A Prayer for Unity

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15:5-6

Father God, we – Your church – are messy and broken because we are sinful folks. Lord God may You give Your church a spirit of unity. May our hearts’ desires be to bring You glory in our time of worship, in how much we tithe, in our acts of service. May our hearts be knit together in Jesus. Fill our words and actions with mercy and grace. Help us to love each other well, so that all who see us know we are Your children. Father God bring reconciliation where the bonds of unity have been broken. Reveal sin in our lives that we may ask forgiveness, repent, and heal. Oh Lord God, raise up pastors who love, know, and teach Your Word. Give the leaders of Your church wisdom so they may guide their flocks into unity, encourage reconciliation, and be examples of love. Heal Your church oh Sovereign Father. Heal her. Oh that we, your church, would be adorned as a beautiful bride because of what You have done for us. May we in unity and in love grow in humility and grace. May all of these things come for Your glory and honor. In Jesus’ precious and powerful name. Amen.
