Five Minute Challenge…

Have you heard of The Gypsy Mama? She is a writer and blogger and I have started reading her blog. She threw out a challenge to see what you could write in five minutes using a photo from your camera as a prompt. As it is a great exercise and since I was not so thrilled with my first attempt, I actually did it twice. Does that make me type-A? Yes! Do you think I am nuts?! Probably, but that is something I cannot deny.

So below are my two attempts at writing something in 5 minutes with a photo as my prompt…

Attempt #1

“Mooommmmmyyyyyyy,” the sound bellows through the hallway.

Weak from the previous days’ illness that encompassed two of my blessings and myself, I refused to budge from the couch. “If there is blood, tears, but not now I thought to myself.”

“Mooooommmmmyyyyy,” the voice repeated in sing-song lilt, “we want you to see something

Attempt #2

The water rippled sending waves of light reflected on the ceiling. Seven years.

Seven years ago she was a tiny red bald bundle wrapped in a blanket with wide eyes welcoming her new world. Now she stands in rippling waters an outward sign to show what had happened one and half years earlier. Her eyes opened and she found a new life through the nail-scarred hands and blood stained wood of the cross.

Her earthly father stands with her robbed in white and with tears in his eyes he reads the words. Words that she affirms. Jesus is her savior, her way through the destruction of the world. There she stands in the water looking up to her earthly father. Oh that I would look to my Heavenly Father in the same way. That

Hope you enjoyed this! I certainly did! 😉

This… is gorgeous. The look in her eyes… I love that you drew focus to that and the complete trust and faith there.

the first one is hilarious – you never know what kids have got when they say “mommy, i want to show you something.” not that i have kids of my own yet, but after 10 years of being a counsellor at camps, you sort of feel like you’ve been with those youngsters forever 😀

Ohhh . . . both are so different . . . and so precious – capturing the giggles and capturing the awesome step your daughter took with daddy baptizing her. How wonderful!

    Enjoyed reading!
