Pressing In
Some days lay us low, stress us out, and there we stand as if naked – our sin and faults airing dirty. Our dreams of the picture perfect family and getting ready for school without drama shatter about us. Those days hang heavy as God gently but firmly chisels away the yuck to free us from the rock of sin.
In those days I need to press in to Him. Cling to the God who is able to do more than I can imagine and trust His hand that is holding me in the refining fire. I need to rest in His righteousness because I don’t have a righteousness of my own. I can come to Him with confidence because Jesus died for me and He is my high priest interceding for me at the throne of God.
So I come to God broken, bruised, stressed, scared, and humbled. This righteous amazing powerful God washes my feet, cleans me up, and reminds me His burden is light. He whispers, “It is ok that you can’t because I can. Rest in Me.” All the while the enemy of my soul whispers doubts and fears into my mind. He loads me down with perfectionism and insecurities.
As I press in to God the enemy’s words become fainter. The burden becomes lighter. I can rest beside God’s still waters.
This week I have been pressing in. Remembering who God is and what He has for me to do. Praying I walk in humble obedience toward Him.
How do you press in to God when things get difficult?
I also forgot to mention I am over at HopefulLeigh today sharing about how I met my husband. It was God not me. Check it out here.
