The Pitch Report

This past weekend I pitched…I threw out my book idea for one agent and two publishing houses.

The pitch sounded much different than the one I posted earlier. It was simple, but direct. Want to know what I said?

“Hi nice to meet you, I am Angela Mackey. I am writing a non-fiction Christian book titled Difficult to Conceive: A Godly Perspective for the Road Ahead. It offers infertile women hope, encouragement and direction. It also provides practical strategies for facing the faith crises that come with infertility….”

That was my elevator pitch…In my fifteen minute meetings I had time to discuss why I was qualified to write this book including my marital status, size of my family, and how two were in-vitro babies. Then I discussed the market I am trying to reach, what is currently out there on the market, and finally specifics of how my book is set up.

Guess what? All three of them accepted my book proposal. Not only that, but all three were touched by infertility in some way, so they understood the need for a book like mine. There were two other agents and six other editors from publishing houses, but God saw fit that the people I met with knew infertility. Only God could have ordained those meetings. AMAZING!

God has blessed this broken stumbling woman. He wants me to partner with Him to do something that matters for eternity. I spent time on my face in my hotel room for this opportunity. It is only the first step, but it is a step none-the-less.

Now what? Well, I wait. I wait to hear if the agent would like to represent me or if either publishing house wants to offer me a book deal or if I get an offer from all three.

“I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope.” Psalm 130:5

I have never been all that great at waiting. But I have tremendous peace as I wait. Peace because I obeyed God and did His will. Now the results are up to Him and I trust His ways are best. So I wait.

Are you waiting for God? I would love to pray with and for you as you wait. Let me know how I can pray for you.
