Watchful…Alert

So we have puppies. Maggie and Lucy…They are super cute and well…super loud. Let me share the cuteness with you:

This is Maggie and Lucy’s ride home:

That was only the beginning of our trip. The vast majority of the trip went like this:

Yes they slept on each other.. 😉

Then they got comfortable at the house:

And they met my kids:

Through out the day, I have been on puppy watch. Keeping a close eye on them so they do their “business” outside, not inside. My watchful behavior earned only one accident – thankfully on the hard wood floor. As I kept an eye on the pups God whispered to my heart…A verse I memorized…Two verses..

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Colossians 4:2

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:18

Then the questions came. Am I more watchful and alert to keep puppies from relieving themselves on my floors as I am when I pray? Do I walk through my day alert for things to pray for to thank God for? Do I always keep on praying for the saints? Or do I switch my brain into auto-pilot so I don’t have to think and therefore am unable to pray?

YIKES…Who knew puppies would be so deep?

One thing I do to stay alert is every time I hear a siren, I pray for the emergency works and those they are helping.

Do you have one way you stay alert and watchful so you can pray?

Yes who knew puppies could be so deep but it shows your heart and mind are in the right place! Alot of people can learn from this INCLUDING myself. Prayer is something I struggle with on a dad to day basis. I’m not in prayer enough but guarantee I am aware and alert about a ton of other things that are less important!

      Steph,

Isn’t it so true we keep our minds rolling on other unimportant things or we put them in neutral and don’t notice anything. Thanks for the comment. Praying we all stay alert.

So cool to know that you pray when you hear emergency vehicles. My Mom and I do the same thing! Yes, I know it took me a LONG time to get to this blog post, but at least I FINALLY got to read it 🙂
