Believe God
So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as he said. Acts 27:25
There was a storm raging. Waves battered the wooden boat. The wind howled so loud one had to scream to be heard. The storm raged for days and days. All aboard the little boat were sure they would die.
But God sent Paul a message. A message that assured a shipwreck, but also guaranteed the lives of all on board the ship. So Paul uttered those words from Acts 27:25. In the midst of a storm that raged for days, when logic dictates all is lost Paul says, “So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as he said.”
In the midst of the storms of life I wonder. . .
Do I believe God – that life will be just as He said it would be?
Do I have faith that He works all things together for my good?
Do I trust He has good plans for me?
Do I honestly know while gale-force winds surround me that He is in complete control?
Do I cling to a boat destined to be wrecked and mourn the boat rather than praise God for my life?
When will I learn to let go my strangle hold on this life and trust God?
As I pry my fingers from what I cannot keep, I find His everlasting arms under me. I find joy and gratitude. I find rest.
For “The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you.” (Deuteronomy 22:27a)
Memory Monday…Ok confession time. I don’t really have all of Psalm 40 done, but I know it is time to move on…So I am going to work on Psalm 40, but begin memorizing 1 John. The whole thing. Who wants to join me? It isn’t that long and it is so full of God’s love. I plan on finishing this book in about six months. That way I really have it down well.
So for next Monday let’s get 1 John 1:1-3 in our minds. I pray this memory challenge will grow your love for God.
