Dissension

Note I did have to look up dissension to figure out how to spell it. If I only stuck with words I knew how to spell my writing would be boring. Just wanted you to know. Now on to business.

So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves. But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin. Romans 14:22-23d

“Who would think that was a good idea?”

We all like to think that our thinking and way of life is the right way. Our choices are the best and only choices that Christians should make.

We think that celebrating Christmas with Santa is wrong so we condemn others who “do” Santa.

We drink wine and condemn others who don’t. We debate the mommy war. Do you stay at home or do you work outside the home? We judge and point fingers and divide. Souls are torn and Jesus forgotten because we are right.

Oh that we would let God work in the lives of each of His children in His way and His time. Instead of judging and condemning may we keep whatever we believe between God and ourselves. So we do not judge the way God is working in the lives of His children.

Oh that we share our beliefs with grace. Knowing we are but hopeless, helpless sinners in need of a savior. Yes, we believe the way we do life is best, but we also acknowledge that we are fallible human beings and “our way” is not necessarily “the only right way.” Then grace will be our aroma. The grace that satisfies our souls.

Father God, may our aroma be that of Your grace. May we live our lives full of grace instead of dissension. Heal Your church with Your grace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
