Symphony and Memory Monday
“Happy twelfth anniversary,” I smiled that goofy love-struck smile at my husband and kissed him.
“Happy anniversary to you,” he smiled back.
Our day had just begun and our plans were simple. Hang out with my brother and parents until we left to drive six-hours home. Not particularly romantic, but we planned a date later in the week and had a coffee date the night before.
Little did we know our day would be punctuated by plumbing mishaps and emotional roller coasters. Isn’t that how life is? We start simply looking for a “good life” and then twists and turns bring us places we never expected.
My husband and I have traveled 12 years of the twisting wonderful and sometimes painful road of life together. We have shed many tears, laughed so hard our tummies hurt, and disagreed a time or ten. God continually surprises us both with His plans being so different than ours. We love each other more and more every day even though we see life differently.
And there is God holding us together, working things out, and creating a symphony out of the joy and the pain.
God the One who guides us, saves us, loves us, and draws us close to Him. He takes our aspirations of a good life and transforms them into a life intended to bring Him glory and make us more like Him.
How has God worked the difficult and wonderful together in your life? Would you share in the comments?
For Memory Monday this week we will work on Psalm 40:5. Are you memorizing Psalm 40 with me? Leave a comment and let me know how it is working for you.
