From the Mouth of Babes. . .

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.”

“Mommy and daddy?” my nine-year-old E said. “You fight?”

She turn shocked eyes on my husband and I. We were disagreeing over who should work on a car-seat. (Our voices were not raised, but clearly we were not agreeing) I looked at her and said, “Daddy and I do not always agree.” I held my breath. What was she going to ask next?

She nodded, “But you don’t fight like L and J and I do.”

“No we don’t,” I answered ready to defend our marriage.

She just smiled and nodded. She trusted my answer and went about getting ready.

It struck me that I don’t often trust the answers God gives me that easily.

I stop and ask God questions like: God, You allowed this? You are merciful? You are righteous? You are using this?

The list goes on and God patiently answers through His word or preaching or even a song. I hear Him answer and sometimes I don’t like His answer. Sometimes He tells me it isn’t for me to know or the fire may burn, but it refines. Do I trust His answers and go about His business? Or do I pout and fuss about who He is and what He is doing?

The honest answer is no. I get all grouchy and snippy when God gently tries to lead me down some path I am unsure about. I have the choice. I can choose to trust God and His answer in my life or I can choose to be grouchy and make myself and those around me grouchy too.

I have a choice. I can trust God and live a life of grace or I can spread a bad grouchy attitude around. I pray I choose trust and grace.

What did God use to get you this week? It is link-up party time!
