Irony and Strength. . . This Really Got Me
In case you haven’t noticed, my life has been a whirlwind lately. Not only am I busy, but friends are moving away – lots of them. Perhaps I need to reconsider my deodorant option. Yesterday was supposed to be a day I wrote. Supposed to be a day I worked on some talks. Supposed to be a day I got stuff done.
Instead I spent a crazy amount of time running to and fro. An appointment for a child, a dog to the vet, a daughter home from school early, pick other kids up from school, get dog from vet (who needs surgery), and then take son to the doctor to make sure he is well and get a shot. WHEW!
In the midst of the crazy I got it finally. It came to me as I was reading my friend Julie’s blog. She said this, “I’m convinced that feeling small and inadequate is no sin. In fact, it’s simply us facing the facts. Because in all honesty, and in the grand scheme of things, we are small. And often our best efforts are feebly inadequate.”
Inadequate and feeble attempts at being the best wife, mom, writer, speaker, daughter, sister, friend, coach, Sunday School teacher, the list is exhausting. It was there in the doctor’s office as I told my kids for the one-thousandth time, “Indoor voices please,” I saw the truth. The crazy can’t get to me when I keep my eyes on Jesus and trust Him. That means I trust Him in everything that touches my life – from the things that swell my heart to the things that break it wide open. I trust He is guiding me on paths of righteousness for His name sake. I trust He the Good Shepherd and I will follow Him for He is also my Shepherd.
It is here I become smaller, feebler, weak. But in this there is freedom and here is where my real strength comes. It comes from God.
“That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
2 Corinthians 12:10
Oh to be weak so I can be strong.
Father God help me to trust You no matter what circumstances come my way. Help me to seek You, follow You, trust You at all times. Amen.
What did God use to really get you this week? Link it up so we can all grow closer to Him.

Absolutely Angela! The closer we get to boasting in our weaknesses is the closer we get to operating in true strength. His strength! Thanks for sharing this.
Visiting over from She Speaks.

Thanks for stopping by! Boasting in our weakness is difficult for me, but so what I need to do…Blessings!
Oh girl, your life sounds a lot like mine! lol
I love the truth you share here–that when our focus remains on the Lord and trust Him through it all, we remain aware that He is orchestrating it all. And that helps us trust Him.
Love this post, and thank you so much for the shout-out!
((hugs))
No thank you Julie! I so appreciate your heart and insight! ((hugs to you too))
Excellent point. We all strive to do our best, no question about that. But there’s so many things that are out of our control. I am so much more at peace when I rely on God for everything that I do, and for situations where I have no control whatsoever.
Yes when we stop trying so hard and ask God to try hard in us. . . there is peace and trust!
