Learning and Memory Monday

Last week was a wild one. . .

We didn’t have school on Monday and visited out-of-town friends for the day. We also bought my mother-in-law a great birthday present that I have yet to mail. . .Ahem.

On Wednesday it snowed in the SOUTH! My guess is maybe three inches, but that is huge for Arkansas. We had a snow day and a half.

And I may have stayed in the snow longer than any of my children. We had a ball together. And by a ball I mean we had a messy house – toys everywhere, a kitchen with enough dirty dishes to build the Eiffel Tower, and the faint odor of wet dirty dogs.

Not only did we get snow on Wednesday, but the Kansas Jayhawks pulled out a great win against Oklahoma State in double overtime. Did you know I love college basketball? My little Kansas heart was so excited for snow and a KU win in the SAME DAY!

On Friday the kids went back to school. And my husband and I cleaned and cleaned. We were having folks over at our house on Saturday and the snow day put me behind. . . By the time the cleaning was done my kitchen looked fabulous. I even posted pictures on Facebook because I knew my friends would be shocked.543844_4805549730783_1357155936_n

And on Friday we mourned the loss of our snowman. Snow just doesn’t last long in the South. Can you see his nose in the front of him and his head behind him? I love it.

1. I don’t celebrate life often enough. I mean I don’t take time to appreciate snow or rain or sun and just have fun with my kids enough. And guess what? God is a God of commemorating and celebrating. He set up feasts for the Israelites to celebrate harvest and other times. So I need to celebrate life more.

2. I really really really like my clean and organized house. I am not naturally organized or clean. Most often I can’t see the top of my kitchen island because of books, toys, pencils, and papers. So I am going to work hard at keeping it clean, organized, and see where it takes me. I may even get crazy and organize the chaos in the drawers too. Perhaps this will keep my mind less cluttered too?

3. I like to carry burdens that are not mine to carry. Instead I need to go to Jesus and leave my burdens there for He says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

I am praying you all find rest in Him no matter what burdens you carry.

So it is Memory Monday…Still finishing up Psalm 40. Let’s work on verses 14 and 15 this week. If you are a bit behind these are shorter verses so catch up this week. It looks like we will finish next week. WHEW!

What did you do last week? Leave a comment. I can’t wait to connect with you.
