Memory Monday Finishing Psalm 40

Hello friends. . . guess what? No, not “chicken butt…”

We have been memorizing Psalm 40 in the NIV 1984 version and that version is no longer available online. Why you may ask?

Well Bible translators always strive to make sure their translation is accurate and understandable. In 2011 NIV put out a new translation which is similar and yet different to the 1984 translation.

I don’t do change well and I prefer the 1984 version, but I think I said that about the NASB 1995 version too.

My biggest issue?! I have memorized the book of James in NIV1984 and several Psalms. In the middle of working on Psalm 40, I cannot access NIV1984 online any more.

I know 21st century first-world problems. SIGH!

So. . . All my links in all my blog posts now go to NIV 2011. That means we will have to use. . . GASP. . . a Bible of paper to continue memorizing in NIV 1984. Or perhaps you prefer NIV 2011. . . You can re-memorize in that version if you like. I trust your judgement. But we must hammer through and finish memorizing Psalm 40.

So that is my challenge for you this week. Finish memorizing Psalm 40. Meditate on the richness of the last few verses:

But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who long for your saving help always say,
“The Lord is great!”

But as for me, I am poor and needy;
may the Lord think of me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
you are my God, do not delay.  Psalm 40:16-17
