Scrapes and Burns…This Really Got Me Wednesday

Hey friends. Sorry I bailed on our link-up last week. I ran out of time because I wasn’t planning my time well. UGH! But this week God has been working on me…Here is how.

Some weeks it feels like everything scrapes and burns. God’s Word is the acid working at the deep-seated sin in my life. Relationships become difficult. Innocent words sear my soul. I ache at what is going on around me. My emotions run wild and there in the midst of my crazy scraped-up, burnt week God whispers (not audibly, but it is a knowing that fits His Word) something that makes me stop in my tracks.

The scraping and the burning is for your good, Angela. You can make the scrapes and burns worse or you can trust me.

God is there in the scraping and burning. He is supervising it making sure it doesn’t go too deep, but deep enough to get it all. He is relentless in rooting out the things I rely on other than Him. Yet I can fight the scraping and burning. Each struggle causes the incisions and burns to spread.

See, I have refined you, though not as silver;
I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. Isaiah 48:10

My afflictions comparably are light. I know that, but I also know that God uses the afflictions of our every days to refine and test us. It isn’t just the big things in life that God uses to refine us. It is the little things. The daily things that drag and challenge and burn. The question is are we going to accept that scraping and burning or are we going to fight it?
