Snow and the Creator’s Call

I am a Kansas girl living in the south. The south where 60 degrees is “cold” and a flake of snow send everyone running for milk and bread.

So when the weather forecast called for ice and snow I did not pay much attention. There are always “snow storms on the way” that rarely make an appearance…rarely and never are two different things.

And the rain and snow and ice came and this Kansas girl’s heart smiled big. I was giddy and allowed my eyes to feast upon the snow as it eagerly sped to the ground. Somewhere near six inches fell and I am still grinning…

snow and creator

While I was musing about my love for the cold wet stuff I realized something. The Creator was calling to His creation. The snow it covered everything up and leaving it all white, pure, clean. And maybe it is my desperate need that loves snow so much. My need for my sin to be washed as white as snow and my desperate dependence on a Savior who came to Earth so He could bleed and die for me. And God whispered…though your sin is as scarlet…It is sin that ruins us and wrecks us. But God, He makes us clean and whole. For He says He will wash our sin whiter than snow. And the blinding white of the snow outside, the hush it ushers in, it is a call from the Creator. A call to come be made clean. A reminder that He came to us so we could be with Him…We need not grope or work for His grace. It is a gift. A gift that came in flesh and died so we could live.

It is a call that echoes through creation from the beginning.

And this snow, it is a miracle, a reminder, a call.

Will you answer the call?
