Stories of Blessing. . . Memory Monday

Stories. They speak to us in ways nothing else can. There are  four articles about the power of stories at Psychology Today. Interestingly they suggest that as we tell stories and those listeners understand what we are saying our brainwaves become nearly identical.

Jesus knew the power of story. Most of His teaching was in the form of stories or parables. We remember what He taught because He taught in stories. God also wants us to tell stories. “Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done.” 1 Chronicles 16:8 In other words tell the stories of what God has done in your life.

Did God provide a financial blessing at just the right time? Tell others. Did God provide a job after a long and tiring search? Share what God did to bring Him praise. Did God orchestrate circumstances so you were encouraged or in the right place at the right time? Don’t hide it, share what God has done.

Why tell these stories of blessings? God deserves to be bragged on but even more than that. Why would someone who does not know God want to know Him if we can’t share things God has done for us? IN the midst of our pain God teaches us something or we discover a friend who has the same struggle. We need to tell others about the good things God does in the midst of our pain.

So let us tell others what God has done and is doing in our lives. Share your stories.

For those of you memorizing Psalm 40 with me, we are now working on verse 2. If you are just joining me it is ok you can get two verses memorized this week. Psalm 40 is about telling people what God has done for us as well.
